Customer Background

One of our strategic customers in airport started to explore the use of virtualization for enhancing their IT infrastructure in 2008. The customer has more than hundred of applications running in multiple platforms like HPUX, HP Tru64 UNIX, Windows, Linux, Solaris and AIX.

A one-corporate-application per server approach used in a growing IT environment led to complexity, high costs of administration and equipment and delays in meeting users’ needs for resource additions and changes, the customer was looking for an infrastructure that could enhance disaster recovery capabilities while supporting the integration of new requirements and consolidation of applications was needed. In mid 2009, the customer had decided to go for VMware as the corporate virtualization infrastructure platform.

Tech-21 Consulting & Solutions

VMware Infrastructure was used to consolidate hosts while improving the reliability and manageability of customer infrastructure, both at its Production and DR site. Tech-21 Consulting and Solutions Team successfully provided a proof-of-concept and pilot environment to demonstrate the capabilities of the approach and to support the customer in learning the components being used from the period of Nov 08 to Oct 09. Over ten HP ProLiant servers had implemented on VMware Infrastructure for production. More applications will be migrated to virtual server in second phase in 2010 and after.

Beside consulting and implementation, Tech-21 also provides on-going support and maintenance on this virtual infrastructure solution. We provide consultancy, hardware, implementation and on-going maintenance support services.
